Harvey E. Beech Awards
The Harvey E. Beech Outstanding Alumni Award, Outstanding Faculty/Staff Award and the Outstanding Senior Award are given each fall during the annual Black Alumni Reunion (BAR). During the 1989 Black Alumni Reunion weekend, the alumni and faculty/staff awards were renamed in honor of Harvey E. Beech '52, the first African American to receive a degree from Carolina. At the conclusion of the 1997 reunion, the Harvey E. Beech Outstanding Senior Award was created.
