2010 Camp Blue Heaven Weekend:  August 20-22

"There are very few opportunities for families to get away together
without TVs, computers and other modern day distractions; and
without thinking about meals and preparing food, [to] just spend
quality time with each other and [to] meet other members of the
Carolina family!"

Camp Activities

Family members of all ages can participate in all of the great traditional camp activities you'd expect such as arts and crafts, swimming, canoeing, horseback ring riding, archery, riflery and tennis. Camp Cheerio also offers a great climbing wall, skeet shooting and a giant water slide into their lake. Campers also have the option of participating in two half-day adventure excursions away from camp: river canoeing and caving.

Special guets such as staff from UNC's Morehead Planetarium and Science Center and former UNC varsity basketball player Eric Montross '94 often join us during the weekend and provide special activities as well.

Millis Lodge

Each family will stay in their own private cabin with a large sleeping area of twin-size bunk beds and a private bathroom. Cabins can facilitate families of almost any size. Families must bring their own bedding, pillows and towels. Camp Cheerio also offers accommodations in Millis Lodge for families of four or fewer with hotel-style rooms, a private bathroom and towel/linen service.

Non-lodging participants can stay at the nearby High Meadows Inn.

Families have rated the food service at Camp Cheerio consistently as "Excellent!" for the past several years.

Non-Lodging "Day Camp" Option

Located less than one mile from Camp Cheerio is the lovely High Meadows Inn. Your family can stay in the comfort and convenience of this nearby hotel and still fully participate in all activities and meals at Family Camp. Please contact the High Meadows Inn directly to check room rates and to make reservations. Once you have confirmed space reservations at the High Meadows Inn call the General Alumni Association at (919) 962-3576 to complete your non-lodging registration for Camp Blue Heaven.
